Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
As we close out 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting this year, I want us to end on one of the most central truths of the Gospel. It’s that Jesus is the only hope for the world. In Genesis, we see what happens when man turns away from God. Decay and devastation enter the picture—toil and hardship rush in like a flood. Trouble and pain become our reality. All of this is because we wanted God out of the picture (Romans 3:23).
But, in one moment, Jesus came and absorbed all the punishment due to our separation from God. He came to make hope available for us. So why are we talking about this?
I know many people personally who don’t know there is hope. They don’t know that God in the flesh was murdered and raised to life again to bring grace to them. I know you can say the same things.
There are so many people in your city, workplace, and family who don’t know Jesus. The hope of Jesus is needed now more than ever in our nation.
Our eyes today are fixed on the reality that prayer can change the atmosphere of our lives and cities. As we have invited God into our lives through prayer these 21 days, we end with laying our faith down for others today. Today, we pray for breakthroughs in DeLand, Deltona, Orange City, East Volusia, or anywhere you call home.
Today write down the names of three people who need the Lord to move in their lives. Pray that they will find hope in Jesus.
Father, I thank you for hope. Thank you that you made hope real to me. Thank you that you showed me who Hope is. Thank you for the power of Jesus! Today, I ask that you would move in the lives of (whoever you wrote down). Father, I lay down my faith on their behalf. God, would you move in their lives! Would you bring redemption.
Father, I ask that you would move in my city. God, would you also move in Deltona, DeLand, and Orange City. Would you bring salvation to our nation and world. We need you, Lord!
Pray for the spirit of racial division to be broken in Volusia County and in your area. Pray for the Lord to bring unity and compassion into our community. Pray that the Gospel would open the door for reconciliation.
Today, pray that the Lord will move at our Church at the Park event. Pray that the LORD would draw thousands of people to Earl Brown Park and Online to hear the Gospel of HOPE. Pray for the Pastors and church staff as they prepare to lead this event. Pray for all those serving at the event. Pray that heaven would invade Deland, Florida.
