“Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”
Jesus modeled what it looks like to pray with boldness—praying knowing that there is nothing our God can’t do. By demonstrating this posture of prayer, his followers modeled him. We can see through the book of Acts that the early followers chose to pray with the boldness that Jesus had shown them. Boldness that comes not from how great they are or the greatness of their prayers. But boldness comes with knowing the authority and power that comes through our faith in Jesus Christ—knowing that God is the one who created the universe and you—knowing that nothing is impossible with our God. Knowing that Jesus died on the cross for you so that you could have the opportunity to enter a relationship with God and ask Him for anything. Our relationship with God is what gives us the power of prayer. Prayer is our gateway into His presence. When we pray, we communicate with our Heavenly Father through what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross. We come through the name and authority of Jesus Christ and can boldly enter into the presence of our Heavenly Father every time we pray. Our Father wants us to live in His love, grace, and power. God never wants to withhold things from you. He wants to pour out his favor upon you. Knowing what Jesus secured for us allows us to have a posture that we can bring everything to the feet of our Heavenly Father. Because of his power, we can come with boldness knowing the question is not whether God can answer my prayer but whether I am willing to ask him.
“Dear God, I praise you for the truths and the promises that you proclaim over me. I thank you for what Jesus Christ secured for me so that I have the opportunity to pray in boldness. Enable your servant to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus. Give me the strength to pray in boldness, knowing that I can lay anything at your feet. Because you love and care for me.”
Today, pray for our local, state, and national leaders. Pray for wisdom and God’s hand to guide them. Pray for protection for our community and nation. Pray that even in tense times, the Will of God will be done according to His Glory.
