But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.
I love the word guard here. It is defined as a precautionary measure warning of impending danger. You see, God is listening to our prayers. He is there to provide us with peace and protect us from danger. Isn’t that good to know? Read 2 Thessalonians 3:3 “But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.” Paul assures us that though we live in a broken world, we don’t have to live as broken people. We can have faith knowing God will guard us from the dangers of life. This doesn’t mean that we won’t suffer, because we still live in a broken world. Paul’s mind was not focused on just this world, he was fixated on eternity. He knew his time in the world was limited, but his time in the presence of our God would last forever. Romans 8:18, “I consider that our present suffering are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” Thank God for His mercy and grace that we are promised protection in this world and an eternity with a merciful King.
God, I thank you for the power of your Holy Spirit. I pray that your Spirit dwells within me and is there to guide me and protect me. Lord you are my strength and my deliverer. I pray that in all circumstances, good or bad, that I would rest in your abounding love. Lord, I pray you would continue to guard my heart and my mind. I pray that when the evil one attacks that my faith would reside in you and your protection.
Thank you, Jesus. It’s in your precious and Holy name, Amen!
