25 At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; 26 yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.[g] 27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Jesus’ entire ministry is put on display for us not just to know what we did, but for us to see the Heart of God through Christ’s words and works. Jesus modeled this in prayer life for you and I to learn from. Matthew records in Mt. 11:25-27 Jesus thanking God for how faith is reveled.
Jesus is showing us that God wants us to connect to Him like a child connects with their father. A child is dependent upon their father because a father’s heart is designed to be for their good. In the same way, Jesus modeled this for us in His prayer to show us that our Father’s heart desires to connect with us. As we connect with our Father through our Lord Jesus, we find what Jesus goes in to say in Mt. 11:28-29. We find rest, security, hope, peace, and love as we connect to our father’s heart through prayer.
“Father, I come to You in prayer today thankful that you desire me to connect to Your heart. I am thankful you see we as your child and that Your heart cares for me. God, I confess I need You and I depend on You. Father, would You remind me of the rest, security and hope I have through Jesus. Father, empower me to pursue you today.”
Today, pray for our Journey Outreach Ministry. Pray that God uses our opportunities for outreach to show the love of Christ to our Community. Pray for our Outreach Director Kate Alexander.
