But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.
Faith is a journey. A journey where we have to remind ourselves of the goodness of
God in all circumstances. What is so special about Jesus walking this Earth is that as a Man, He understands our weaknesses, but as God, He is both omniscient and omnipotent, and He intercedes for us in the heavenly places so that our faith will not fail. We see a great example of Jesus’ compassion for us through intercession for Simon Peter. It was not Peter’s faith in Jesus that was lacking, but it was his own self-confidence that would lead him to turn away from Jesus. But Jesus models prayer for us, prayer that ministered to others. The trial of Peter's faith is no different from the various trials that we are faced with our journey through life. They are there to refine us and teach us that our dependence rests in Jesus. So today, let’s walk in humility, knowing that our faith, our confidence, lies with the King above all kings.
Heavenly Father, I thank you for the confidence you have given me through your son, Jesus. God, I pray over any of the areas in my life where my self-confidence might be overshadowing my humility. Help me walk in faith today so I may draw closer to you Lord.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen!
Today pray for an opportunity to share the Gospel with someone today. Pray that the Lord would open doors and conversations to take place. Pray that you would be empowered by the Spirit to share the hope you know.
