For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
This verse is such a good reminder that we need to praise God above all things. When we are spending time with God, no matter our current circumstance or situation, we should dedicate some of it to thanking Him for all the great things He has done. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like there is anything we could thank Him for, but the reality is that from the moment we were born, that was already grace and a gift. The kind of love mentioned in this verse doesn’t just involve the feeling of love but it’s a love that is unfailing and perfect. The Cross and empty tomb are proof for us to point back to and know that God’s love is true. God is faithful to all generations. He was faithful to the generations before us and will be to all the ones after us. That means that we don’t have to worry about the future, ours or our kids'. For parents, it’s healthy to have a loving concern for our kids, but when our worry creates overwhelming tension, we are no longer trusting in God’s faithfulness. God loves you, and he will love the next generation, and the one after that, and the one after that.
Lord, thank you for all that you have done in my life. You deserve all the praise and honor. Help me to focus on you above all things. Thank you for loving me despite my imperfections. Your love is unconditional. Thank you for the beautiful reminder that you are faithful, you have and will continue to take care of me, and you will love and take care of the future generations. May my heart not get lost in the worry of what tomorrow brings but be reminded that you are in control of all things.
Amen.
