Why Does God Care Who I Sleep With? | Hot Takes

Sex is a sacred, God-given gift meant to be safe, anointed, fruitful, and enjoyable within marriage. Sex is sacred because it is holy and designed by God (Gen 2:24). It is anointed with the power to unite two people as one (Mark 10:8-9). It is also meant to be fruitful, multiplying love and fulfilling God’s command to “be fruitful and multiply” (Gen 1:28). Additionally, sex should be enjoyable as a blessing from God (Proverbs 5:18-19, Song of Solomon 5:1). The message also encouraged purity, not as mere virginity but as a life of integrity and repentance. Christians should guard what is sacred, approach sexual relationships with wisdom, and ensure that marital intimacy aligns with biblical principles: Is it prohibited? Is it beneficial for your spouse? Does it involve anyone else (Matt 5:28)?

Pastor James and his friends used the following acronym to guide their conversation: SAFE

Sacred: Sex is holy and good. Gen 2:24

Anointed: Sex has the power to unite. Mark 10:8-9.

Fruitful: Sex is meant to multiply love. Gen 1:28

When it comes to sex in married relationships, ask these three questions:

1. Is it prohibited in scripture?

2. Is it beneficial for your spouse? Emotionally connected.

3. Does it involve anyone else? Matt. 5:?? Even if you look at someone lustfully, you have already committed…

Enjoyable: Sex is a Good Gift from God. Proverbs 5:18-19
