Four Life-Changing Revelations That God Wants You To Know
John 17:3
Pastor James shared four life-changing truths that Jesus wants you to know: God knows you intimately, He loves you beyond comprehension, sin has separated you from Him, but Jesus has made a way through the cross, and he alone has the power to forgive your sins. This week we will discuss how Jesus is calling you to know Him—not just know about Him, but to truly know Him. He’s calling you into a relationship that’s based on love, grace, and the forgiveness that only He can give.
One: God Knows the Real You
1. Read Psalm 139 tells us, "You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways." God knows everything about you and He still chooses you. What do you find comforting about the fact that God knows you? What do you find terrifying about the fact that God knows you?
Two: God Loves You Relentlessly
2. Romans 5:8 tells, "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Jesus dying on the cross is God’s most remarkable display of His love for us. What other examples in your life have you witnessed God’s relentless love for you? What does it mean that Jesus would die for you regardless of performance?
3. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." Jesus paid the ultimate price so that we could have eternal life. Why do you think He gave up his to give you this gift?
4. 1 John 4:9-11 says, "This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” God loved us while we were still a mess – He didn’t wait for us to “clean up” first. How does it make you feel to know God took the first step to love you?
Three: Sin Separates You From God
5. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." The Bible is clear that everyone has failed and fallen short of the standard that God has set for us. How does it help you to know that you are not alone in your sin?
6. "The wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). The death that Paul is talking about here is eternal separation from God. Why do you think sin separates us from God?
Four: Jesus Made a Way Back To God
7. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8, NIV). God is love; It’s part of His divine nature. How does this truth comfort you in your relationship with Him?
8. "Christ died for our sins ... He was buried ... He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:3-6, NIV). Jesus’ death on the cross fulfilled Old Testament scriptures. How does it make you feel to know that since the fall of Adam, God has been working to bring you back to Himself?
9. "For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God" (1 Peter 3:18, NIV). Jesus did nothing to deserve a horrible death on the cross, yet He willingly submitted himself to the torture so that your sins might be forgiven. How important is it for us to forgive ourselves when we sin? How important is it for us to forgive others when they sin against us?
10."I am the way" (John 14:6). Jesus calls himself the way, the doorway that we must take to inherit eternal life. If Jesus tells us He is the ONLY way, why do we so often not take Him at His word?
11. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, NIV). This is the single step that takes a person from death to life. What is stopping you from taking this step if you haven’t already done so?
12. "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace" (Ephesians 1:7, NIV). When we come to Jesus with our sin, He doesn’t turn us away. He doesn’t condemn us. Instead, He offers forgiveness, grace, and a fresh start. He wipes away the stains of our past and gives us a new identity—one not defined by our failures but by His love. What does this verse tell you about the extent of God’s love for you?
Conclusion:
God wants you, but you have to decide if you want him; you have to make the decision. Faith is a decision to place God at the center of your life and pursue him. Faith is not mystical or theoretical; it’s a decision to live your life, trusting what you know about God and giving your life to him.
13. Read Romans 10:9. This a confession that will change the trajectory of your life. Can you re-state this verse in your own words?
14. Read Romans 10:13-14. The word "everyone" already says a lot. It doesn't say 'some people,' 'religious people,' or 'those who have it all together.' It's 'everyone.
