Easter 2024 :: How Jesus Meets You On The Broken Road
Luke 24:13-35
One of the biggest struggles of faith is that there will be times when we feel God has failed us. It’s common to feel frustrated and confused—we don’t know what he is doing or why it happened. We feel the brokenness of life and wonder where God is in all of our brokenness. This week, we will talk about how this is where the Easter story begins.
Read Luke 24:13-35
1. What stood out to you as you read through these verses?
2. What is the significance of Cleopas being named in verse 18?
3. Verse 21 says, “But we had hoped…” We all have hopes. What are our hopes usually based on? How do you deal with disappointment when your hopes and dreams don’t materialize as you expect? How would you counsel a friend who is dealing with an unmet expectation?
4. Reread verse 28. Pastor James said, “Jesus never forced himself on anyone.” Why is that thought significant? How did you come to know Jesus?
5. Reread verse 25. Jesus is challenging their faith and ours… Can you trust God's actions even when you can't see them?
6. Verse 31 describes how the disciple’s eyes were suddenly opened, and they “recognized him.” When they saw his brokenness, they were transformed. What is it about Jesus’ brokenness that changes us?
7. Read Hebrews 4:15-16. How do these verses strengthen our faith?

Serve Day 2024 – May 4, 2024
If you’re in a Life Group, you’ve been connected to Christ and Community. Did you know that part of our Calling as believers is to help meet needs in the cities where we live, work, and play? (See Matthew 25:35-40). On May 4th, we, as a Church, will do just that! Over the next two weeks, please follow along with the curriculum at journeyconnect.org/serveday to Discover and Plan Your Serve. You will find all the tools you need to build a serve your group is passionate about. We can’t wait to see what serves you submit!
1. Complete the two weeks of the Serve Your City curriculum beginning the week immediately following Easter.
Session 1 (Video 1 Parts a and b) is scheduled for the week of April 1st-8th.
Session 2 (Video 2) is planned for the week of April 9th-16th.
