What Now? - Part Two

Journey Serve Day is scheduled for May 6. We can’t wait to celebrate this day with you as we gather together at our Orange City location. OC will meet at 8 am, and Deltona and DeLand will meet at 11 am. If you haven’t done so already, please submit your plan for Serve Day on the Serve Day web page: www.journeyconnect.org/serveday

1. Who are the people that had the greatest impact on your life? What was it about them that impacted you so much?

2. Read John 13:1-5. How does foot washing challenge our understanding of leadership and servanthood?

3. Can you share a time when someone washed your feet? How did it impact you?

4. Read John 13:6-8. "He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet? Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand. “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”" Why do you think Peter initially refused to let Jesus wash his feet? What does this tell us about his perception of who Jesus is?

5. Read John 13:9-17 How does the example of Jesus washing his disciples' feet challenge our own attitudes toward serving and caring for others?

6. Jesus said in John 13:17 "Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them." How amazing is God, that He would allow us to be a part of what He is doing and then He promises to bless us when we do? How have you seen God bless you when you showed His love to someone else?

7. “Love Moves” says “How am I leveraging the love God has shown me to love others?” What would happen if the church never stopped loving people in our community?

8. Pastor James said that when we find ourselves in a situation where we don’t know what to do we should ask “What would Love do?” How do you suppose asking that question could impact our life? How could it impact the lives of the people around you?

9. Read John 13:15. What does it mean to love others as Jesus loved us? How does this type of love differ from other forms of love we may encounter in our lives?

10. Read John 13:34-35 How does the love that Jesus commands his disciples to have for one another serve as a witness to the world?
