1. Have you ever asked, or have been asked the question: “does following Jesus really lead to Joy?” How does that question make you feel?

2. Jesus’ reaction to the disciple’s question in John 16:19 shows us a glimpse into his character. Has there ever been a time in your life where you’ve felt free to bring this question to Jesus? Did you end up bringing it to him or continue to hold onto it?

3. Jesus uses the analogy of a woman giving birth and the pains of labor, how does that analogy resonate with you?

4. Do you have the same joy that a mother has for her child being born into the world when you enter into God‘s presence?

5. Jesus says that no one can take our joy from us, how true do you believe that statement to be? Can you think of times where you have given your joy away?

6. Pastor Austin talks about pursuing the things that Jesus has secured on the cross, how does it make you feel knowing that you can never work for the things Jesus secured because he’s already given them to you? 

7. As you prepare for 40 Days, which of the five commitments will be most difficult for you? How can we as a group help you take these steps?
