We Are Journey Church
Watch the Message
Everyone is searching for something in life. We are looking for something or someone to fill this void. Most people go through life empty, discouraged, and unfulfilled. The problem is we don’t know where to find the answer. We don’t know where to find fullness, joy, and meaning, so we continue to go through life empty and feeling stuck. This week we are going to talk about how God designed you and wants to connect with you in a real and meaningful way.
1. What are your earliest memories of church?
2. Read Matthew 16:15-16. Who would you say Jesus is? Why is it important to get this answer correct?
3. Pastor James said, “Jesus didn’t come to establish a sacred place, He came to launch a movement of God among a people.” What is the difference between a “sacred place” and a “movement of God among a people”?
4. Read Matthew 16:17-18. Jesus is saying He is going to build a movement around who He is and what He has done that will be so powerful it will “push back death itself.” How have you personally seen your church (Ekklesia) “push back death itself”?
5. Here at Journey Church, we say we are a movement of God where everyone is helping someone take steps to follow Jesus Christ. What does that mean to you?
6. Pastor James also said, “To follow Christ is to continually take steps of faith to Connect to Christ, Community, and your Calling.”
- Connect to Christ: Read Philippians 3:8. How has your life changed as a result of connecting with Christ?
- Community: Read Hebrews 10:24-25 and 1Thessalonians 1:2-3. The way God designed you to grow spiritually is through connecting relationally. In what ways have you connected with community at Journey Church?
- Calling: Read Ephesians 2:10. You have a personality and talents that God designed in you before time began. When you walk in this gifting, there is personal fulfillment and it makes a difference in other people's lives. What would you say your calling is? How can your group help you fulfill that calling?
7. Pastor James said, “Everyone has a next step.” What would you say is your “next step”?
8. You saw the Expansion video this weekend. How do think our Deland location can better minister to our community if we were to have a 24/7 access location?
