Talking with God • Part 3
Watch the Message
We, as the Journey, believe in the power of prayer. God calls us to pray without ceasing! Not only when times are bad, but also praising God for all that He has done in our lives. We believe prayer is not meant to be reactionary, but proactive.
As a church, we have been fasting and praying for 21 days. During this time, Pastor James lead us through a sermon series titled “Talking With God” that taught what the Bible says about prayer.
Prayer not only changes us, but it invites God to work with power to change our circumstances and communities. The greatest movements of God are started and sustained through the united prayers of God’s people.
- Read Matthew 6:9-13. “Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
- As we finish out Compassion Week 2021, have someone in your group pray for our Journey Outreach Ministry and Compassion Week 2021. Pray that God uses our opportunities for outreach to show the love of Christ to our Community.
- Have someone else in the group pray for our Journey Block Party on October 24. We will all come together as one church. There will be food trucks, fun games, and live music! Come join the fun and bring your family and friends.
- Have someone pray for the nation of Haiti. We know God has the power and authority to do all things. Pray for an awakening of God's people in the country of Haiti. Pray for peace and unity in the nation of Haiti.
- As a group, pray for the Journey. Pray that God would continue to use the Journey to express and point to the Hope that is in Jesus. Pray that as people take steps Jesus would be the focus of everything that they do.
- Finally, pray for all of our Journey Church locations (Orange City, Deland, Deltona, and Online). Pray that the Lord continues to bring His presence in our midst. Pray the Lord gives us the boldness to bring His presence everywhere we go.
- Pastor James shared some bible verses with promises that we can turn into prayers and give back to God. What would it take for you to start praying these verses on a regular basis? Do you have other verses that you use in prayer?
(Psalm 86:4 NIV) "Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you."
(2 Samuel 22:33 NIV) "It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure."
(Acts 4:29–30 NIV) "Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
(2 Peter 3:9 NIV) "The Lord does not want anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
