Rhythms • Part 4

Watch the Message

This week we are going to talk about the rhythm of work and why it’s so important to God.

  1. What was your first job? Where were you and how old were you?
  2. Read 1 Thessalonians 4:9–12. What does working hard have to do with loving your neighbor?
  3. Pastor James said, “Work is an opportunity to love others.” Think of your job (or if you’re retired, your last job). What opportunities do you have to love others?
  4. Read Colossians 3:23. Pastor James also said, “Work is an opportunity to worship.” What does that statement mean? What would happen if you started to look at your job as an opportunity to worship?
  5. Read Genesis 1:27–28. God blesses mankind by giving us work to do. How does this passage relate to what Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 4:11b-12: “You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody."?
  6. Read Psalm 90:17. For Moses, the chief evidence of God’s favor was what God did with the people’s work. Why is important to allow God to use our work to make a difference?
