Father’s Day 2025

Pastor James & Coach Donnie Jones

Fatherhood is a sacred and pivotal role that reflects the relationship between God and His children. Scripture portrays God as the ultimate Father, exemplifying love, guidance, protection, and provision.

  1. What’s your favorite dad joke?
  2. Read Ephesians 6:4. What are some practical ways that fathers can raise their children without causing frustration? How can spiritual training be integrated into daily family life?
  3. How can you help bring others up in the “training and instruction of the Lord”? Who has God placed in your life that you can spiritually invest in?
  4. Coach Donnie said, “My head coach is Jesus Christ.” Jesus has given us everything so that we can be the light in this world. How does your example—at home, at work, or in church—reflect the character of Christ?
  5. Read Matthew 28:19-20. Just as fathers are called to train their children in the Lord, every believer is responsible for helping others grow in faith through discipleship, encouragement, and teaching. Coach Donnie said that young people need consistency, encouragement, and love. How do these three elements align with your understanding of discipleship?
  6. Read Luke 15:20-24. What stands out to you in this parable? What does this story reveal about God’s love and forgiveness?
  7. Read Psalm 103:13: “As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him.” What does this verse reveal about the compassion that God has for us? Even if your earthly father never showed compassion, how important is it to remember that God has compassion for you?
  8. What practical tools did Coach Donnie share to help families stay connected? Which ones can you incorporate into your family life?
  9. Whether you are a father or a mother, there is a danger that you might succeed at work but fail at home. You never get a second chance to raise your kids. God’s not looking for perfection; He’s looking for presence. Who can you invite into your life to help you be present in your children’s lives?
  10. We all fail at some point. We might feel like giving up. How do honesty and humility help parents work towards making things right again?
