Every move of God begins when ordinary people obey Him with faith, sacrifice, and unity. When we move, God moves through us. This week, we will explore what it takes to make the move God is calling us to make.

  1. If you needed to move a very heavy object, like a piano or large furniture, would you rather: try doing it alone to show off your strength, hire professionals and watch, or gather a group of friends to help? Why? Has your approach to “heavy lifting” in life changed over time?
  2. Read Acts 1:6-11. The disciples are standing with Jesus before His ascension. What stands out most to you about this interaction between Jesus and His followers?
  3. Pastor James mentioned that “faith doesn’t grow by what we say we believe — faith grows when we step into what God is asking us to do.” When have you seen this principle at work in your own life?
  4. What stood out most to you about the illustration with the box and weights representing the vision for Daytona and global partnerships?
  5. Read Acts 1:6-7. The disciples asked Jesus about restoring the kingdom to Israel. How did Jesus redirect their focus, and what does this teach us about God’s priorities versus our own?
  6. Read Acts 1:8. Pastor James pointed out that Jesus didn’t give the disciples a schedule but a step. How is this shown in Acts 1:8, and what promise did Jesus make to them?
  7. The Greek word for “witness” (martys) is where we get our word “martyr.” How does knowing this connection change your view of what it means to be a witness for Christ?
  8. Read Acts 1:10-11. The angels asked, “Why do you stand here looking into the sky?” What is the significance of this question, and how does it relate to our faith journey today?
  9. Read 2 Samuel 24:24. Faith that never costs you anything will never change you. What has your faith cost you, and how has that shaped who you are?
  10. The sermon highlighted three key principles about making a move: “Movement starts with faith that obeys,” “Movement always requires sacrifice,” and “Movement happens when we move together.” Which of these principles challenges you the most right now, and why? Why is it important that all three come together?
  11. Jesus told the disciples, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you” (Acts 1:8). In which area of your life do you need the Holy Spirit’s power the most right now?
  12. Consider an area where God might be calling you to sacrifice something (time, comfort, resources, control). What practical step can you take this week to release your grip on that area?

 Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for inviting us to be part of Your mission in the world. We admit that we often stand still, waiting for complete clarity before we’re willing to move. Forgive us for choosing comfort over obedience at times. Holy Spirit, fill us with Your power just as You did with those first disciples. Give us the courage to take the step You’re calling us to, whether that means giving sacrificially, serving faithfully, or stepping out in faith when the path is unclear. Help us remember that we’re not meant to carry the weight of Your mission alone but to move together as Your church. Use our obedience, no matter how small, to bring Your hope to people in our community and around the world. We trust that as we move, You will work through us in ways beyond what we can imagine. In Jesus’ name, amen.
