- If you unexpectedly found $1,000, what would be your first instinct – to save it, spend it, or give some away? What does your answer reveal about how you naturally approach resources?
- What stood out to you most from this message about the feeding of the 5,000?
- Pastor James said, “God’s more is waiting on your move.” What does that statement mean to you?
- In the sermon, we heard that “faith doesn’t say ‘when I have more, I’ll move’ but rather ‘I’m moving with what I have right now.'” How does this challenge your typical thinking?
- Read Mark 6:35-44. What was the disciples’ initial solution to the hunger problem, and why do you think Jesus responded with “You give them something to eat”?
- Pastor James pointed out that Jesus asked, “How many loaves do you have?” not “How much do you still need?” He’s shifting their focus from what they don’t have to what they do have. From shortage to stewardship. From fear to faith. Why is this distinction important?
- In Zechariah 4:10, God says, “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin.” How does this connect to the feeding of the 5,000?
- What happened when the disciples placed their small offering (five loaves and two fish) into Jesus’ hands? What principle does this teach us about faith?
- Pastor James said, “Generosity is spiritual warfare. Every time you give, you are declaring, ‘My trust is not in my paycheck. My trust is in my Provider.'” How have you experienced this battle in your own life?
- Matthew 6:21 says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” How have you seen this truth play out in your own life – where has your giving directed your heart?
- What fears or concerns usually prevent you from being more generous with your time, talents, or finances?
- Take some time to pray about where God might be asking you to “make a move” in an area that feels insufficient or inadequate.
Application
Read Malachi 3:10 and consider if God is inviting you to “test Him” in the area of giving.
