Journey Summer 22 – Part 1

Watch the Message

Sometimes we get up in the morning expecting just another day, but to be blind-sided by a blow that comes out of nowhere. How do you respond when the battle comes to you? Sometimes your life depends on how you choose to respond. How do you fight to survive? This week we are going to talk about what it looks like to be more than a conqueror in Jesus Christ.

1. Have you ever been in a fight with someone who did not fight fair?

2. Read 2 Chronicles 20:1-4. What did the people of Judah do when they saw that a vast army was coming against them?

3. When bad things happen, is your first response to always seek the Lord? If not, why?

 4. Read Ephesians 6:10–12. Pastor James said, “Where the battle is seen is not where it started.” Every battle that is seen in the physical world is influenced by the unseen war in the spiritual world. How does the Armor of God help us to fight a war in the spiritual realm?

5. Read 2 Corinthians 10:3-4. What does it mean that “The weapons we fight with…they have divine power to demolish strongholds"?

6. What if you are fighting the wrong battles? Do you understand how that could even be possible? What are you currently battling?

7. You can’t win a battle you don’t admit you are in or know who you are fighting against. What are the consequences of pretending there is no battle? What are the consequences of fighting a battle with the wrong weapons?

8. Read 2 Chronicles 20:12. “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” Have you ever been in a conflict where you prayed this type of prayer? If you did, how did it turn out?

9. The real battle is a fight for your focus. How does Romans 12:2 help guide us to focus on God, even in the midst of a battle?

10. Pastor James said: “Keep your focus on God who is fighting your battles.” How could your life be different if you were able to focus on God…all the time, rather than on the armies that surround you?

11. Read 2 Chronicles 20:12b. “I do not know what to do, but my eyes are on you.” What would it take for you to make this verse a part of your daily prayers?
